Kingston Volunteer Centre (KVC) exists to promote and develop volunteering throughout the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. We provide advice and information to people interested in volunteering and match their skills to local organisations and voluntary groups. We have over 180 organisations registered with us offering over 400 different voluntary opportunities and last year we referred over 1000 volunteers.

KVC is part of Kingston Voluntary Action and is a member of Volunteering England. We recently achieved Investors in Volunteers a quality mark that recognizes excellence in volunteer management. The KVC team includes Maria Jarvis who manages the Centre, Chris Guinness who runs the Buddy Scheme, the Volunteer Involvement Project and our new Sports Volunteering Project, Pat Stanley who manages the People Count Project and a large team of dedicated office volunteers who help us deliver our services.

The core work of KVC involves:

•  gathering information on organisations who need volunteers

• signposting and referring prospective volunteers to organisations in line with their skills, interest and aptitudes

• increasing awareness of volunteering and how it can benefit volunteers, local organisations and service users alike

• gathering information on all aspects of volunteering, for use by organisations

• promoting strategies for good volunteering practice

• providing support and advice for volunteers and volunteer managers
