OUR PROJECTS / Getting People Back to Work

Working alongside Kingston Workstart (an employment support service for people with health problems living in the Royal Borough of Kingston), we work with people who need a little extra support into voluntary work, work experience or paid employment. This can include people with learning disabilities, mental health problems, physical disabilities or sensory impairments. This project is aimed to broaden their goals and increase their expectations for the future. We are looking to achieve this by including a new structure to their routine, building their confidence, increasing and developing new pathways into employment.

Benefits to Organisations

You will attract a more diverse group of volunteers that will:

  • add value to your organisation
  • offer a wider range of skills, experiences and perspectives
  • be more flexible
  • be more sustainable
  • better reflection of the community as a whole
  • develop community relations and partnerships
  • help to broaden your client group’s understanding of diversity

By involving a diversity of volunteers, the stereotypes of volunteer work are broken down and the profile of volunteering is improved.

Services we offer

The Getting People Back to Work project is here to provide that extra assistance to help ensure that the placement is as successful as possible. This includes

  • Spending time finding the right role for each individual-discussing skills/interests and taking into account specific needs and preferences
  • Matching volunteers to organisations who are committed to working with volunteers with extra needs
  • Accompanying volunteers to visit the organisation
  • Making sure the organisation and the individual needs are meet
  • Monitoring and providing on-going support throughout the placement

The support and training you will receive will assist you in developing volunteer role, policies and practices for working with all your volunteers and thus creating a diverse team of committed volunteers.
