Inclusive Volunteering Event

On Tuesday 18th September we will be holding a workshop around including volunteers with mental health problems.

The workshop is for organisations who work with volunteers and would like to find out more about the Volunteer Involvement Project.  There will be presentations from Mind in Kingston and Volunteering England around good practice and how to make your project inclusive for all volunteers.  There will be good practice advice available which will also benefit the way you work with all of your volunteers.

What is the Volunteer Involvement Project?

Everybody should be able to volunteer. We work with people who may need a little extra support to volunteer. This can include people with leaning disabilities, mental health problems, physical disabilities or sensory impairments. We are working closely with a number of organisations that recruit volunteers who are committed to supporting volunteers.

Extra Support
The Supported Needs Project is here to provide that extra support to help ensure that your voluntary work is as successful as possible. This includes:

• Spending time finding the right role for you – taking into account your needs and preferences
• Matching volunteers with organisations who are committed to working with volunteers with extra support needs
• Accompanying volunteers to see the organisation
• Making sure the organisation meets your needs
• Monitoring all volunteer placements regularly
