NEED VOLUNTEERS ?

Kingston Volunteer Centre has over 190 organisations registered with us to whom we refer volunteers to. Last year we registered 900 plus potential volunteers! We actively promote volunteering through the internet, our web-site, through our newsletter, through information and advice days, through the media and through our one to one sessions with people expressing an interest in volunteering.

Our Policy on Working with Volunteers:

We believe:
• That a volunteer is a person who, free of charge and without duress, contributes their time, skills and enthusiasm with the aim of benefiting others in the community. Our aim is to maximize both of these benefits.
• Volunteers are a valuable resource in the community.
• Each volunteer has a unique contribution to make as well as individual needs to be satisfied through their volunteering.
• Organisations will benefit according to the level of investment made and the resources committed to enhancing the involvement of volunteers.
• Organisations should review their procedures for the recruitment, selection and management of volunteers.

We actively seek to:
• Recruit volunteers who live in the Borough of Kingston.
• Promote positive images of volunteering.
• Advocate the key elements of Good Practice when involving volunteers.
• Encourage organisations to review regularly their involvement of volunteers.

As the local voice for volunteers, we will:
• Advocate the rights of volunteers particularly in relation to equal opportunities.
• Expect organisations to have clear, written policies covering:

• Induction and Training
• Expenses
• Supervision and Support
• Insurance
• Health and Safety
• Grievance and Disciplinary procedures
• Confidentiality
